How to Prepare for your makeup trial

Gather inspiration tailored to you. Save images of people with a similar skin tone and hair color to your own. This helps your makeup artist understand your preferences and narrows down what you do and don’t like. Keep in mind that many Pinterest photos are heavily edited, so Instagram can be a better source for realistic bridal looks.

Coordinate hair and makeup trials. Whenever possible, schedule your hair and makeup trials on the same day. This allows you to see how the two elements complement each other. If you’re still searching for a hairstylist, I  can recommend stylist that I have worked with or at least know their work very well  which in turn make us a great team for your bridal glam.. Depending on availability we could do the trials together.   The very least you can do is style your hair neatly.

Invest in Your Skin for Your Makeup Trial

Your makeup trial is your first glimpse of your dream bridal look, and glowing skin is the key to flawless results. Start with a consistent skincare routine: cleanse, exfoliate, hydrate, and always use SPF. Treat yourself to nourishing masks and stay hydrated in the weeks leading up to the trial.

Healthy skin is the best canvas for beautiful makeup, so invest in your skincare now to shine on your big day!

Prep your skin for the trial. Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin and wear a top with a low neckline. This helps your makeup artist see your skin tone clearly and ensures a perfect colour match.

Brows

If you typically get your brows waxed or threaded, it’s a great idea to schedule the treatment before your trial appointment if you can. This allows you to see a more accurate preview of how your makeup will look on the big day.

Dress The Part

What you wear to your makeup trial might be more important than you think! Your outfit can actually help you visualise your overall wedding look more clearly. While you don’t need to show up dressed up, wearing black leggings and a casual top might make it harder to picture the final result. Instead, choose something that makes you feel polished and reflects the vibe of your wedding day. This small detail can make a big difference in how you see your bridal look come to life.

I highly recommend you Wear a white or ivory top. Choose a top that resembles your wedding dress neckline. White reflects light onto your face and can influence how your makeup appears, often requiring more intensity in color compared to darker tops.

Bring your favorite products. If there are makeup items you love—like a lipstick or foundation—bring them along. This gives your artist insight into the textures and tones you feel your best in.

Don’t forget your wedding earrings. If you’ve chosen your accessories, bring them to the trial. This adds a bridal touch and helps you envision your full look

Schedule your trial during the day. Book your appointment earlier so you can wear the makeup for several hours. This helps you test its longevity and see how it holds up throughout the day.

Communicate openly. Don’t hesitate to share your thoughts during the trial—it’s a collaborative process. Your makeup artist wants to make sure you feel confident, comfortable, and like your best self.
