How far in advance should you book?

The sooner the better! 3-12 months in advance is typical, to ensure my availability. For many brides, a deposit is made well before their trial to ensure their wedding date is held. Once a deposit is received, a trial can be scheduled 2-3 months before your big day.

Please note that last minute bookings are sometimes available so please just get in touch as I may be able to help!

How do I make a booking?

Booking your wedding date & trial

To book the best way is to fill out the enquiry form, this give me all the necessary information to confirm availability.

Once your enquiry has been received, confirmation of availability will be sent to you within 48 hours.

Your wedding date is secured once your non-refundable £75 deposit has been received. (This is deducted from the final booking total)

Dates cannot be held without a deposit.

Trial fees are separate. Payment for the trial will be required 7 days prior to trial.

After completion of a successful trial, you have up to 48 hours to let me know your decision.

Wedding day The final and remaining balance set out on your invoice is due 4 weeks prior to your wedding.

Do you require a minimum booking?

For peak seasons Saturday weddings May – September a minimum booking of 3 adult clients at a wedding is required. (bride & 2 others).

When/Why should I book a trial?

For many brides, a deposit is made well before their trial to ensure their wedding date is held. Once a deposit is received, a trial can be scheduled 2-3 months before your big day! So that it’s relatively fresh on your mind.  Waiting until closer to your wedding day allows me to see your skin and make any skincare recommendations if necessary.

A trial is beneficial in many ways, it’s an opportunity for us to meet before your wedding and develop a relationship that enables you to feel secure and relaxed on your big day. It’s also important to spend time going over look and style so that I understand exactly what you’re after and can tailor a look that is especially designed for you to accentuate your best features and your own personal style.

There are occasions, where a trial might not be possible due to booking at short notice or you live outside UK  leaving no time for a trial.

How should I prepare for my trial?

Bring along images of makeup looks you like keeping it to a minimum of 3 for makeup and 3 images for hair ideas. I have a wide range of makeup but if you have a favourite lipstick that you cant be without feel free to bring it along. Also, if possible, pictures and a colour swatch of the wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses may be useful.

Arrive at the trial wearing your usual makeup or your special occasion makeup. This will help me to see the amount and intensity of makeup and colours/textures you are used to wearing. bring along an image of how you normally wear makeup on a night out ideally well lit-up so that your makeup habits are clearly visible. Women like to stay close to their usual colour schemes and textures and I  want to pay consideration to your makeup habits and help create the best look for you.

Be realistic in what is achievable when comparing to Instagram or Pinterest images  enhanced with lights and filters and smoothed. In real life  skin has lines and texture

Your hair will need to be clean and dry for your trial; you can either wash it the night before or the morning of your appointment. Please don’t use straighteners or curling tongs before your trial as it affects the hair shaft and makes it harder to re-style. (Using a hairdryer is fine.)

How long does the trial session take?

Trials take up to 2 hours for a makeup trial

This allows plenty of time for a consultation and creating your look, and any ‘tweaks’ if needs be, such as changing lip colour or adding more blusher.

Once we are happy with your bridal look I will take photos, fill in a chart, make notes so I can easily re-create your look on the day.

Where do trials take place?

All trials are held at my home space that has good natural light, professional mirror and lighting setup, in Stratford East London (Zone 2-3) to fit around current wedding bookings so trial dates are subject to change occasionally.

How long should I allow for makeup and hair on the wedding day?

Heres my guide time for makeup only or makeup & hair on the wedding day :

Bride Makeup Only: 1hr 30 mins
Bride Hair and Makeup: 2 hours
Bridal Party Makeup Only: 45 mins
Bridal Party Hair and Makeup: 1 hour 30 mins

I allow 30 mins set up time before starting with the first person and like to have all makeup and hair completed approximately 30 –1hr before everyone needs to leave for the ceremony. This allows time for touch ups and ensures everyone is not rushing.

Ideally hair is done first and in two parts depending on the chosen look, so for example it may require hair to be set in curls first, then then makeup is applied whilst the hair is setting, then followed by finishing hair-styling touches.   My hairstylist and I will work it out between ourselves the schedule..

How do you manage a large bridal party?

The earlier the ceremony the earlier the start time, I have a group of experienced artists I regularly work with on larger bookings.

Wedding mornings are usually very busy so I find that its best to have a separate makeup artist and hairstylist so that there is enough time for everyone to be pampered. For this reason I work closely with a selection of awesome hairstylist’s, I’m also happy to work alongside a hairstylist of your choice

Can you stay for stay for touch ups?

This is an additional service I can offer. If you are interested in booking me for additional time on the wedding day please let me know when enquiring and I can add this to the quote for you. Price will depend on the number of extra hours you would like me to stay.

Do you do hair as well?

Whilst I have  some hairstyling experience,  I prefer to focus 100% on makeup, this way, each artist is giving their complete and undivided attention to each equally important step in achieving the look.

I work closely with a selection of awesome hairstylist’s I can recommend, I’m also happy to work alongside a hairstylist of your choice.

What brands of makeup and hair products do you use?

I use a mixture of well known and professional brands that are designed to give long lasting results whether its a summer or winter wedding and photograph beautifully.

I also use Sian Richards London 4K Longwear Creme Palettes  – Perfect for Bridal-  its Waterproof . Humidity Proof . Buildable. No Cracking . No Flaking –  Paraben Free. Vegan Friendly. Celiac Friendly. Peanut Free.

I’ve never worn false eyelashes. Should I wear them for my wedding

I recommend to all of my brides that false eyelashes be worn on their wedding day, but it is by no means a requirement. The reason I do recommend brides wear lashes is because the natural lash tends to get “washed out” in photographs. I carry a large variety of lashes – natural, wispy, chunky, etc. – for brides to choose from so any look can be achieved.

 Just remember, you must feel comfortable on your special day and if that means not wearing false eyelashes, then so be it! There are several techniques we can use to “thicken” the lash line and give the appearance of a fuller lash.

Will my makeup hold all day in to the evening?

My makeup applications hold up beautifully all day in to the evening. I use key products to prime the face and eyes for long lasting, weather-proof (and tear proof!) wear. The only areas you will need to touch up are your lip colour, and potentially dabbing a little powder or blotting papers on oily skin, so I recommends you keep your lipstick or gloss, a blush and some translucent powder in your purse.

What happens if I don’t like my makeup or hair?

I fully understand that sometimes it can be tricky to communicate your exact vision. To solve this I encourage clients to communicate freely with their likes and dislikes – My goal is for clients to be completely happy and enjoy the process.  If it takes a few tweaks and adjustments to create your vision,  I will work with your preferences so that you are in love with every aspect of your look.

Can you create makeup looks for all ethnicities?

Yes absolutely  I’m highly skilled at working with all skin tones and ethnicities. My makeup kits are equipped with a range of diverse shades to accommodate all women. Take a look at our Instagram images to see brides of all cultures looking the best version of themselves on their wedding day. @makeupologybrides

I don't wear a lot of makeup, but I still want to look beautiful on my wedding day. Should I hire a makeup artist?

Absolutely!  You don’t have to wear a lot of makeup on your wedding day to look beautiful, it just needs to be applied correctly and with the right products.  If you don’t want to look too “made up” for your wedding, I can give you a very soft, natural bridal look.   Its  most important on this day that your makeup lasts, looks great in photographs, makes you feel beautiful and is applied flawlessly to make you feel and look your best on this very special day.

I have sensitive skin, will it be suitable for me?

 The majority of products that I use are hypo allergenic, however if you know that you prefer certain products, eg: if you have tried and tested moisturiser that works for you please bring it along.

What information do you need from brides?

By including all of the info below I can deal with enquiries more efficiently:

  • Name of the Bride;
  • Date that the services are required for;
  • The time that the client needs to be ready for;
  • Name and address of the venue where  services are required;
  • The actual services required (i.e. hairstyling, makeup or both) and for how many people; and
  • Any important information I should be made aware of, such as: a particular makeup and/or hair style that is required, if there any specifics about the client’s skin that are important, if there are any sensitivities to particular products, etc.
Why does bride makeup cost more than bridesmaid makeup?

The bridal price is more than bridesmaids as its the minimum call out fee for the day. Your investment covers not only the extended time spent doing the bride’s makeup, but also all the admin communication leading up to and including the day of.  Scheduling and advertising,  insurance, tax, kit maintenance and investment and professional education & experience. This is industry standard for someone with my skill level, experience and more.

Highly recommended makeup artist

" I was very pleased with my makeup for the wedding. I had a makeup trial to run through exactly what I wanted as I am somebody who doesn't wear a lot of makeup. Beverley was very kind and knew exactly what I wanted. She arrived on time on the day which made everybody happy! The makeup looked outstanding on the day and she even ended up doing my mum and maid of honour's make up on the day. Highly recommended make up artist. Thanks very much Beverley xx "

I highly recommend her for all the brides to be

First of all I would like to say many thanks to Beverly for making me look beautiful on my wedding day. The makeup was very very fabulous and she understood exactly what I wanted. I really loved the makeup because it lasted all day and it was just perfect for my skin type (oil skin), the foundation was not heavy, actually it felt like I was not wearing any foundation, as it was very light and just right for my skin type, the eyeshadow makeup was beautiful, I was just glowing. I highly recommend her for all the brides to be or if you want to feel glam for a special occasional makeup, you wont be disappointed.

Thank you so much for making me look like me on the day.

Beverley has a creative mind and knew exactly what would work best for me. At the trial we discussed the ideas I had, she took on board my thoughts while putting her own twist on it which I absolutely loved. However, on the Wedding day I decided to go with a different theme which Beverley had already thought of also which once again underlined the connection she had with my ideas. Beverley displayed incredible patience with me and my bridesmaids and was able accommodate us all even though they were late. I was impressed with level of makeup Beverley applied as it was very subtle yet pretty and effective. For an experienced make-up artist based in London I would recommend Beverley not only for Weddings but any other special occasions. Her prices are reasonable and offers great value for money. Once again, thank you so much for making me look...
